What can't be listed

Masjid Market is a neighbourhood marketplace raising money for mosques, so the bar is simple: if you wouldn't hand it over at a mosque fundraiser, don't list it.

Never allowed

These are blocked automatically and never published:

• Alcohol and drinking gear — bottles full or empty collections, home-brew kits, branded barware sold for drinking.
• Drugs and cannabis, and anything for using them — including grinders and vape pens for cannabis.
• Tobacco and vapes — cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vape juice, hookah tobacco.
• Weapons — firearms, ammunition, and knives beyond ordinary kitchenware. A block of kitchen knives is fine; a hunting knife is not.
• Adult or explicit items.
• Gambling equipment — slot machines, casino gear.
• Counterfeits — fake designer bags, replica jerseys or watches presented as the real thing.
• Anything that looks stolen — serial numbers filed off, store security tags still attached.
• Hazardous or recalled items — open chemicals, products under a safety recall.
• Live animals.
• Lending-style financial products — anything that makes money by charging people for borrowed money.
• Items that don't belong at a mosque fundraiser — pork or lard products, statues made for worship.

Listed after a quick check

These are normal things to sell — they just get a quick human look before going live, usually within a few hours:

• Food items — sealed and labelled only.
• Medical devices — blood-pressure monitors, mobility aids.
• Car seats and cribs — child-safety rules change; we check the model isn't expired or recalled.
• Event tickets.
• Religious texts in worn condition — out of respect, we look first.

How the check works

Listings are screened automatically when you publish, and anything in the "quick check" list is confirmed by a person. If your listing is held or removed you'll see the reason in plain words, and you can request a review — a person looks at every request.
